Hartford, Connecticut – On Tuesday January 17, 2017 Dr. Lyle Wray, Executive Director of the Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG), was elected as President of the Community Indicator Consortium (CIC) for 2017. The CIC is an international organization dedicated to advancing community indicator systems to advance the quality of life in communities around the world. Dr. Wray serves on the Metro Hartford Progress Points (http://metrohartfordprogresspoints.org/ ) and previouslystaffed the Ventura County Civic Alliance in California and their state of the region report (http://civicalliance.org/state-of-the-region/ ).
Wray succeeds out-going president Karen Hruby (of www.truckeemeadowstomorrow.org) and is joined by newly-elected vice president, Craig Helmstetter (of www.MNCompass.org), and will work closely with the Executive Director of the Community Indicators Consortium, Chantal Stevens. Craig Helmstetter said “I am looking forward to working with Lyle in this new capacity. His history with CIC, experience with the communities he has served, and his expansive knowledge of how indicators have been used to forward community improvement efforts really throughout the world, make him an ideal president for the organization.
Founded in 2004, the Community Indicators Consortium (CIC – www.communityindicators.net) advances and supports the development, availability and effective use of community indicators for making measurable and sustainable improvements in quality of community life. CIC works to fulfill its mission by hosting an annual international conference, organizing educational and networking events, providing on-line classes, and sharing information in a timely and dependable way. In addition to working on special projects led by the interests and opportunities identified by members, CIC built and maintains a comprehensive online database of past and active community indicator projects all over the world.
The next conference of CIC is Engaging Values, Effective Metrics – Rooting Indicators in Community Aspirations – and it is scheduled for Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on June 12 and 13, 2017. The 2017 CIC Impact Summit will be held in November in the Tampa Bay area.
